About UBorrow

UBORROW allows you to request materials directly from participating libraries within Florida’s state university system.  This unmediated borrowing service increases your access to the collections of the other universities in Florida and delivers more quickly than standard Interlibrary Loan.

How does it work?

When searching the FAMU catalog, click on the blue UBORROW button    towards the top right corner.  This will take you to the State University Libraries’ catalog, showing all the available items within the university system.  If you want an item, click on the UBORROW icon again, provide your FAMU library number. Items can be picked up at Coleman Library.  You will receive an email in a few days letting you know that your book is ready for you.

What if the item I requested is not available?

If the item you requested is not available at any of the libraries in the state university system, your request will be automatically forwarded to our Interlibrary Loan service at FAMU.  You will receive an email with a link prompting you to login to ILLiad. First time ILLiad users will be required to create an account. From there, your request will be populated in the ILLiad request form.  Then click SUBMIT.

Who is eligible?

Current FAMU students, faculty and staff who are in good standing with the FAMU Libraries are eligible to place requests through UBORROW.

What are the loan periods?

You are given 60 days from the time the item arrives on campus.  Again, you’ll receive an email as soon as your book is received and ready for pickup.

Can I renew my loans?

You may request one 30 day renewal.  Please note, this is a request, so you will want to place your request before your item is due.  After you place your request, you will receive an email notifying you of the new due date or that your request was denied. Place your request under "My Library Account."

What happens if my books are overdue?

You will receive email notifications about your overdue UBORROW books just as you do for the books that you borrow from the FAMU Libraries.  You will also be fined by the Libraries for all overdue, lost, and damaged UBORROW loans.

Where do I return my books?

Return books to FAMU Coleman Library.
