Law Library Orientation: General Library Policies

This guide will introduce you to the FAMU Law Library and its services & policies.

General Law Library Policies

The Law Library's policies were created to provide FAMU College of Law faculty, staff, and students with a quiet and pleasant study environment. The policies were designed to preserve the collection, equipment, and Law Library furnishings for all library users.

 Reshelving Materials

Books are to be placed on book carts for reshelving after use.  Book carts are located at various exit doors throughout the Law Library.

Noise Level

The Law Library encourages quiet conversation and collaborative academic work; however, students and patrons should refrain from loud or disruptive conversations or other noisy behavior. Be considerate of other patrons. Group study rooms are available for students who need to study together, conduct extended conversations, or view media presentations.

Cell Phones

Library users are to set cell phones to non-audible signals while in the Law Library.  Cell phone conversations are not permitted inside the Law Library.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in the Law School building.

Children and Minors

Patrons who bring children or minors into the Law Library are responsible for their actions. Monitoring their activities and regulating their behavior is vital to keeping the Law Library in order and noise to a minimum.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in the Law Library.

Repairs or Equipment Problems

Please do not attempt to solve equipment problems. If a photocopier or microform copier has a paper jam, needs paper or ink or if any other equipment has any problem, please report it to the Circulation Desk immediately.

Public Access Computers

Six public access computers, located on the first floor, are available in the Law Library for access to FAMU's databases. Use of these computers is limited to legal research.
