If you know the Public Law number of the law you are interested in, you may want to check if a legislative history already exists for that law. Legislative Histories for major legislation may be found in individual books, law review articles, or on LexisNexis and Westlaw. The Congressional Information Service (CIS) Index/Abstracts will list citations for legislative history documents for all legislation; however, there may be a year or more delay between the passage of the law and the publication of its legislative history in the CIS Index/Abstracts.
