Law School Academic Support, Exam Study, and Bar Prep: Academic Support

Resources to help prepare for law school classes, exams, and the bar exam

Practice Exams

One of the best ways to study and prepare for the bar is by taking practice exams. Each essay from the Florida Bar exam for the past 10 years is included in the Florida Bar Study Guide, along with sample answers.

Academic Guidance

Under the Academic Support Tab, you will find a collection of videos that can help you understand how to craft a legal argument. The videos cover a wide assortment of topics, from the basic components of a legal argument, to structuring arguments to avoid pitfalls such as bias and hyperbole.

Using the drop down menu located at the right side of the Academic Support Tab, you can navigate to the five pages of videos contained in this guide.

The Preparing for Class tab provides videos and information on briefing cases, note taking, and preparing for classes. By using the tips provided, you will be able to get the most out of each class that you attend.

Preparing For Exams

There are three sections to this LibGuide to help students prepare for exams:

Studying for Exams provides links to blogs, podcasts, videos, and titles that give advice as to how to prepare for law school exams.

Writing Exams has information on what to do, what not to do, and lists of CALI lessons that you can use to write for law school essay questions.

Issue Spotting looks at the art of spotting legal issues in a fact pattern. It provides examples and videos that break down the issue spotting process, which is pivotal to succeeding on law school exams.

Bar Prep

Preparing for the Bar Exam is an involved process. Even getting an application prepared can be a challenge. Under the tabs Studying for the Bar, Florida Bar, and Other Bars, you will find information on how to apply and study for the Bar.

The Studying for the Bar tab gives information about the BEST Program, preparations classes, and lists titles that cover how to pass the Bar.

The Florida and Other Bars tabs give information on how to sign up for the Bar in each state. Remember, the Bar application process can be a long one, so start early.
